2K Games and Gearbox Software have teamed up with the Academy of Art University to bring forth a student-produced Borderlands film by the end of this year.
The developer announced today that they are providing necessary resources to the students to create an animated short-film based in the Borderlands universe.
First thing needed for the film is a story. For that students across all disciplines will sit through the university’s spring semester to come up with the script. Afterwards a panel of university officials and people from both 2K and Gearbox will choose one from the lot. The winning team will also get an internship opportunity at Gearbox Software.
Once the story is chosen, the interns will begin full production in the Summer and hopefully will release the final product in the fall. According to 2K, this real-world experience will give students an inside look at the challenges of working with others and meeting deadlines.
