Back in January, Grasshopper Manufacture debuted Sude51’s upcoming game with a Killer is Dead trailer. The trailer has resurfaced with addition of English voice overs.
Killer is Dead is Suda51’s next foray into the action genre and is said to be return to roots of style of Killer7 and No More Heroes after the cheery Lollipop Chainsaw. Just like No More Heroes, the game has a cel-shaded graphical presentation and will feature sword play as the main action mechanic.
Set in a near future scenario where the world is rife with technology that enables lunar tourism and cybernetic enhancements, the game stars Mondo Zappa, an assassin who works for Brain Execution firm.
As explained by Suda in an interview with Famitsu; Killer is Dead is” the story of a man who doesn’t show himself much in the public world, but still worms his way into society and mercilessly eliminates the evil dispersed in it. It’s a personal story, not one that’s conscious of the chaos going on in the real world at the moment, but you might get more than a taste of that in the end anyway.”
Killer is Dead is expected to get released in the summer of 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360.
