The PlayStation 3’s upcoming exclusive title The Last of Us is Naughty Dogs biggest triumph in recent years. The studio behind famous IPs such as Uncharted and the Jak & Daxter Trilogy took a break from these blockbuster franchises to focus on a more grim and darker game that would truly captivate their audiences. Currently, The Last of Us is scheduled for a June 14th 2013 release date.
The game has just been confirmed to hold a total play time of 12-16 hours, which is about the same time as Uncharted 3 including all the cinematic sequences and dialogues, which is a good play time.
It would take you 16 hours to finish the game on harder difficulty setting with focus on exploration whereas on easy difficulty keeping exploration to a minimal, it should only take you 12 hours.
The following is taken from the Source:
We’re definitely looking at more than 12 hours, maybe 12 to 16 right now is what we’re looking at,” explains Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer in a video interview. “It really depends on how you play. You can play a little bit slower if you try to approach situations stealthy, if you really wanna explore the environment and scavenge, that’s going to add more time too.
As you can see, the stealthy approach will net you more playtime whereas you go guns blazing, it will reduce your total game play time.
