Ever since Phantom Pain was announced the rumors spread that the game was secretly the next installment in the Metal Gear series. Link after link has been drawn and the game itself, including the protagonist looked like they belonged in the Metal Gear world.
So what do we have for you today? More evidence which points to the increasingly probable conclusion that The Phantom Pain is, in fact, linked to Metal Gear, whether it is the next part in the series or not. The studio, Moby Dick is responsible for the title, a studio with no previous history in games.
Game Trailers TV somehow managed to get to the CEO of the studio, Joakim Mogren, who many suspect to be Kojima himself, his first name being an anagram. The mysteriously bandaged up supposed CEO of the studio promised more details to be revealed at the GDC later this month, a conference where Kojima is also going to speak.
If that wasn’t enough to convince you, Mogren also showed some new screenshots for the game which had the Fox Engine logo at the bottom right corner. For those of you wondering, yes, that is Kojima Productions’ engine also used in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
The game has been confirmed for a Xbox 360 and PS3 release, but a next-gen release cannot be confirmed at the moment as stated by Mogren.
Kojima’s “Photorealism through the eyes of a fox” GDC speech will be held at the GDC on March 27 at 11 AM GMT.
