As you can imagine, this all left EA with a lot of angry fans. Now to simmer down the anger that has been raining down on them from all possible directions, EA has issued a public apology and decided to give everybody who purchased SimCity a free PC game.
This was announced by Lucy Bradshaw, MAXIS LABEL’s General Manager, on EA’s official blog. Here is an extract from her post:
And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.
I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.
This just may be what EA needs to do to get back in the ‘good graces’ of the gamers. A free game always helps a gamer calm down.
