Vita Sales Increase ‘Four-Fold’ in Japan After Price Cut
Great news for Sony is that sales of their PlayStation Vita have jumped considerably in Japan. Hiroshi Kawano, president of SCE Japan said that the handheld’s sales are up by a factor of four following the 20% price cut.
On February 28 Sony dropped the Vita’s price in Japan from 24,980 yen ($268.31) to 19,980 yen ($214.47). However, the wishful thinking of a similar price cut in the rest of the world can be thrown out the door. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony World Studios stated in an interview following the PlayStation 4’s announcement, that they have no current plans of dropping the Vita’s price in North America.
