Assassin’s Creed IV: 40% of Missions Will Be Naval-Based
Better get your sea legs ready because a major part of Assassin’s Creed IV will take players out to the deep blue sea.
Around 40% of the game’s missions will be navel-based, as revealed by Ubisoft in a Q&A session. Black Flag will indeed be themed around piracy and we’re not talking about the ones we do on the web.
“Mission wise, land missions will represent approximately 60% of the game and naval ones 40%,” said creative director Jean Guesdon. “But if you take the global experience that players will leave with ACIVBF we’re more talking about 50-50.”
“The Seamless, systemic open-world system (Horizon System) packed full of sea and underwater activities will represent a big part of the game.”
Thanks to a new “Horizon” system, players will be able to to take out a spyglass at any point and scan the horizon for potential pillaging targets. Ubisoft speaks of merchant convoy robbings, whale hunting and pirate rescues. It all depends on what your spyglass sees.
At the same time the developer assures that the game will not focus entirely at naval warfare. Land-based gameplay will still be there and will feature the ever famous “free-running, social stealth and combat.”
