Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Want To Make the Game Multilingual

CD Projekt RED want their NPCs to talk speak their native languages, meaning you’re gonna need some sort of translator implant to get by.

Whilst a lot of things are still in the planning stage for Cyberpunk 2077, the developers have some big plans as well as some rather strange ones.  Sebastian Stepien from CD Projekt RED revealed the plans for NPC dialogue to be recorded in their original languages and the player would require a translator implant.

When they say ‘original’ language, they want their ethnic NPCs to be as authentic as possible, potentially down to dialect. That means speaking their native language and using and slang or jargon that might be part of their dialect.

Decisions are not yet made, but we are thinking about some kind of system which could tell more about the game world. The idea is to record everything in its original language. If there are, for example, Mexicans in the game, they will speak with slang. All performed by Mexican actors. Then a player could try a translating implant, and according to its level, he will get better or worse translation.
