Uncharted 3’s awesome multiplayer experience can now be achieved free of charge. The mode went free-to-play today via a new PlayStation Network download.
All you have to do is log in to the PlayStation Network, download the update and jump into the multiplayer. However, do note that you can only level up to the 15 mark at max. If you want to go beyond that and also play other modes, there are several micro-transactions to help you.
Anyone interested in increasing their level cap to 25 will have to dish out $5, while anyone who is feeling generous and wants to finish the level cap completely can pay $20. Unlocking the co-op arena and co-op adventure will require you to pay the amounts of $9.99 and $11.99 respectively.
You can also opt to buy the full digital version of Uncharted 3 which comes with everything unlocked from the start. The Game of the Year version includes the full single-player game, all the previously released DLC, and fully unlocked multiplayer, all for $39.99.
This is going to be the first time for Naughty Dog to break off their multiplayer into pieces. The developer is going to keep a watchful eye on the forums and listen to fan feedback. If this pans out well then expect something similar in future Naughty Dog titles, say Uncharted 4 for the PS4 as well.
