Arma 3 Enters Open Alpha on March 5

Bohemia Interactive has announced today that their tactical shooter Arma 3 will enter open alpha on Tuesday, March 5.

Anyone who is interested in participating can head over to Steam and either pre-order the standard Arma 3 edition for $32.99 or the Digital Deluxe Edition for $49.99.

The Deluxe Edition includes a a number of in-game rewards that will become available once the game fully launches. Adding to the extra goodies, you’ll also get:

  • Digital copy of the soundtrack
  • Maps
  • A tactical guide
  • Steam copy of Arma: Cold War Assault

Purchasing either edition will grant you access into the beta. Also the prices mentioned above are just for a limited time period. On release the price of both editions will increase on Steam.

Apart from the standard and deluxe edition, Bohemia also revealed a Supporter Edition which is priced at $91.99. This can be purchased from Bohemia’s online store and includes all the above content plus a Steam version of Arma X, access to all future downloadable content, a special forums medal and the buyer’s name included in the game’s credits.

If you’re not bent on pre-ordering the game, then you can wait until March 14, by which Bohemia will release Arma 3 Alpha Lite. Players can then participate for free but can only do so by invitation of someone who has pre-ordered the game. Bohemia has also promised to distribute access codes through their social networks as well. Alpha Lite will run up till June 15.

The beta of the game will begin in the second quarter of this year, with Arma 3 seeing an official release in fall of this year.
