Earlier today at the Sony Playstation 4 press conference, Blizzard Entertainment’s Chris Metzen took to the stage to inform the audience that they would be seeing Diablo 3 on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
Console game development is in our blood, we’re very passionate about it. We held a deep desire to get back into the midst.
We spent a lot of time thinking about which of our franchises could translate to console, that could make the jump while maintaining the accessibility.
We know we’ve found that game.
Metzen went on to promise painstakingly optimized control schemes and a new four-player co-op mode. The game will also be fitted with new inventory management systems, player customization, and offer direct control over characters.
While there was no demo for it, Blizzard also announced that the PS3 version of Diablo 3 will be shown live at PAX East from March 22—24. Attendees there will be the first in the world to get hands-on experience of the fast-paced action and visceral gameplay of Diablo III via the new custom-designed interface.
