2K Sports has officially confirmed WWE 2K14 for a release in fall of this year. The confirmation came via an interview published today by ESPN where the publisher spoke of their renewed five-year contract with WWE and confirmed the release window for the game. Yuke’s has also been confirmed to once again develop the newer WWE title.
THQ previously had an exclusive license through 2017 to create WWE games. However, following their declaration of bankruptcy last year, the court ordered the company’s assets to be sold off. Casey Collins, executive of WWE said that both them and THQ held a private bidding for the rights to develop WWE video games. It’s unknown as to who other than 2K parent Take-Two Interactive bid on the license.
