DayZ Standalone Won’t Charge for DLC

Bohemia Interactive’s Dean “Rocket” Hall answered some DayZ questions about what to expect from the standalone, including private server support.

The experience will be entirely new,” Hall said. “There is virtually nothing that has been directly ported from the mod, everything has been redone.

The price for the DayZ standalone isn’t settled yet:

“However, to put it in perspective, I want a higher price than nearly everyone else in the company,” Hall said. “So we’re not talking an expensive product.”

Hall, however, doesn’t like the idea of paid DLC and would rather see the sales of the game as the foremost financial driver of the game than charging for DLC. Also, Hall isn’t promising a release on the next generation of consoles.

“Once released, expect new content every week,” says Hall. “We are planning hundreds and hundreds of clothing varieties!” Updates to DayZ will include new hospitals, weapons, basic vehicle customization, and more zombies.
