DayZ update 0.60

Release of DayZ’s standalone version is upon us and with that it’s time to gape in awe at some new screenshots provided by developers Bohemia Interactive.

A new update on the game’s blog tells us that DayZ has shed its skin and now features more improvements in various departments. Dean Hall, the creator of the game posted that almost all of the game assets have been redone for the final version.

Players who have played the current mod are going to feel a big difference in terms of quality when the standalone version releases.

The experience will be entirely new. There is virtually nothing that has been directly ported from the mod, everything has been redone. This wasn’t our original intention (hence the December deadline) – but it has evolved this way. We’re all glad it has!

New models for female characters have been added to the game, with improvements to the older models as well. Hall added that character development is a major focus of theirs and until the release of the final version, they will be further “expanding options for developing and customizing your character.”

A great news for community runners is that DayZ will indeed support private servers.
