Well, the wait seems to be over regarding the unveiling of the next-gen consoles. Funnily enough, it is the unlikely Sony, who seems to have made the first move, ahead of Microsoft. In case you do not know what I’m talking about then let me elaborate.
Yesterday, a teaser trailer, titled as “See the Future,” appeared on the official blog of the PlayStation US. Although the trailer was not accompanied by any text what so ever, most gamers out there have assumed this to be teaser for the announcement of the PS4 on the 20th of February.
In the trailer, we do not see much, just the squares, triangles, circles and the crosses of the PlayStation with lightning crackling in between them. However, at the end of the trailer the date; Feb 20th 2013 pops up with a caption of “Be the first to know.”
This caption implies that Sony is indeed going to reveal something brand new and with all the rumors of next-gen consoles flying it would not be a stretch to assume that it is a PS4 announcement. In all likeliness, it will be like the PS Vita reveal in February 2011 at the same event, released at end of the year in Japan, and at the beginning of 2012 all over the world. The same may happen with PS4.
It is not be surprising to see Sony make the first move this time around. Remember, by coming late to the party in this generation Sony lost out on a lot of sales to Microsoft. I’m sure they do not want to make the same mistake all over again.
