The Phantasy Star series has been around since the beginning with titles spanning across platforms. The common themes and elements from the series of RPG games were taken and adapted for a modern MMORPG audience and released as Phantasy Star Online back in 2000, it was a huge success during its time.
The most recent development in the series was the next installment of the online game, Phantasy Star Online 2. It was released for Microsoft Windows last year but only for Japanese audience. A PS Vita release is now in the works but unfortunately has only been announced for a Japanese release in February.
A release for the North American and European audience is expected this year. The Vita version supports interaction with the PC version including sharing save files.
Developer Sega has given us a six minute teaser trailer for the upcoming release which showcases the gameplay that Japanese PC gamers are already familiar with.
