Who better to develop a competitive first person shooter than someone who has been holding leagues in eSports for some time now. Sundance DiGiovanni, CEO of Major League Gaming has stated that a shooter developed by people from the eSports circle is “inevitable”. He claimed that they already have been approached by people on the matter as well.
While speaking with Penny Arcade in an interview, Sundance said that they already have worked with a lot of game studios and now they hold considerable understanding to take on a title of their own.
Right now we want to focus on partners with games like PlanetSide 2 and help them broaden out and take advantage of what we’ve built. But we can also take advantage of their understanding of the game mechanics. We’ve done this with folks at Bungie, with folks at Activision, we’ve done it with lots of studios. We’ve done that enough times to have the understanding to take to our own title, eventually.
On being asked the nature of their said title, he added, “I don’t want to rush, I’d probably create an arena shooter and have people say I’m crazy. It’s not time for that. That time has passed, but who knows?”
