DICE 2013 Summit is going to be headlined by two veterans considered legendary in their respective fields. From the game’s industry we’ll be seeing Valve’s president Gabe Newell and from the film’s industry JJ Abrams.
Jeffrey Jacob Abrams is better known in the film industry for his work in the genres of action, drama and science fiction. As a director he was behind Star Trek (2009), Mission Impossible III (2006) and Super 8 (2011).
His latest directorial film work Star Trek: Into Darkness is scheduled for this May. Abrams has also been brought abroad to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, which currently has release date of 2015.
Apart from his film status, Abrams has also been involved in the co-creation of Super 8 and Action Movie FX – two award winning apps, of which the latter was recently announced by Apple to be the iPhone app of the year.
I don’t think I need to to write down credentials for the co-founder and president of Valve. Creation of the digital software distribution service Steam and the Source engine has played a vital role in the progress of the game’s industry.
Newell’s keynote at DICE 2013 is titled ‘A View on Next Steps’ and will focus on the progress of the current industry and the advances Valve is making with Steam and Big Picture for the future.
Opening keynotes at DICE 2013 of both Abram and Newell will take place on February 6th, 2013.
