With Crysis 3 set to release in a few weeks, developer EA is looking to whet your appetite by opening up a multiplayer beta on the 29th of this month. It will be live for about two weeks and contain two team-based game modes as well as two different maps to squabble over.
Game mode one will be called “Crash Site”. In this mode, your team will be finding and defending different locations on the map, while attempting to kill off the other team. It sounds like pretty straightforward multiplayer fare. The second game mode is where things get interesting and new.
In “Hunter” mode, two players begin wearing the Nanosuit armor and carrying a Predator bow. The other 10 players are regular Cell Troopers. I think you know where this is going. The Nanosuit players hunt the troopers and each time they kill one, the trooper resurrects as a hunter. The goal is for the hunters to kill all the troopers before the time runs out.
You’ll even be playing in jungle-like settings on the maps “Airport” and “Museum” which take place in a New York City overrun by rainforest. So, be prepared to hear lots of Predator quotes and references over your headset while playing this one.
The multiplayer beta will also debut the “New York Feed”. This tracks everything your friends are doing in the game while also yelling at you to do different challenges, making for a fun and immersive multiplayer experience.
Crysis 3 is out in full on February 19th in North America. If you pre-order you’ll be upgraded to the Hunter Edition of the game and you’ll be given a free download of Crysis 1. The Hunter Edition gives you the Predator bow and the Hunter Nanosuit module and will also boost you up to multiplayer level five, unlock a Predator bow skin and some extra dog tags.
Get to da choppa!
