Tattoo Artist Files Lawsuit Against EA

By   /   Jan 10, 2013

In another case of baffling lawsuits (that may or may not be won by the crazy party) Louisiana Tattoo artist Stephen Allen is claiming that EA used some of his work in the front cover of a video game with asking permission.

The game in question is called NFL Street and features running back Ricky Williams on the cover. The game was released back in 2004 but Allen claims he only became aware of the game in 2010. The infringement occurs due to the fact that the cover exposes Ricky Williams’ upper right bicep, which is covered by a tattoo drawn by the artist.

This is just one of those ‘What the hell?’ kind of cases many of us have heard about or joked about with friends before but there’s always a chance he’ll win the case and get a massive settlement. Weirder things have happened.
