The controller comes in a two-layer color finish with laser etches to give it a worn out feel. On the left side there is also a piece of cloth, or bandage if you will, etched around the controller. The press release calls it a “a realistic and tactile worn appearance inspired by Lara’s iconic climbing axe and the tourniquets that result from the adventure in her intense origin story, as told in this latest title”.
To be honest the final design looks a bit weak to me. With such a rich history backing Tomb Raider, I’m sure Crystal Dynamics could have done better.
The controller is now available for pre-order exclusively at GAME for £39.99. Whoever purchases one will also be given a download code for an Xbox 360 exclusive playable Tomb Raider character – the Scavenger Archer.
The controller will launch alongside the Tomb Raider game on March 5.
