Nintendo of America reached out to Kotaku yesterday, probably in response to the publication’s claim of Nintendo dropping the ball on its online marketplace, to reveal that a Virtual Console for the Wii U is coming up.
As of now, the original Wii’s Virtual Console games are not playable using only the Wii U GamePad, but Nintendo plans to make the Wii U Virtual Console compatible with the GamePad. This means that future VC games will be playable solely with the GamePad on its 6.2-inch touchscreen.
“We do not have any specifics to share at this time,” said a Nintendo rep. “However, we are moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U, and we plan to make it so you can play it on the Wii U GamePad alone.”
