Microsoft Reveals Xbox IllumiRoom In Concept Video

According to Microsoft, IllumiRoom will use the Kinect and a projector to augment the television screen by projecting visuals meant for your peripheral vision. It will, “change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new game experiences.”

According to the patent, which was first revealed via a Microsoft patent in September, will utilize a 3D depth camera to calculate the player’s position through emitting infrared light patterns. Also according to the patent, IllumiRoom will work with the Kinect Glasses technology that was rumored for the Xbox 720.
