American McGee Turns To Kickstarter For Funding

American McGee, the (ironically) China based developer, seems to be in a bind as he reveals that the funding for their upcoming title ‘Akaneiro:Demon Hunters’ has dried up. McGee, known for his games ‘Alice’ and ‘Alice: Madness Returns’ and his studio Spicy Horse Games have turned to Kickstarter for the last bit of funding they need for the home stretch.

We desperately want the final form of Akaneiro to represent the great amount time and effort that’s gone toward getting it this far

The Kickstarter page can be found here and as of the time of this writing, they have about $20,000 pledged from a little over 500 backers. It’s still nowhere near the amount they need though, for the project to be funded; they need to raise at least $200,000.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters has been in development since mid-2011, and a closed beta for the game kicked off during November 2012. The game is targeted for platforms including Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. The game has also been submitted to Steam Greenlight, and if accepted, will be available for purchase through that service as well.
