Black Ops 2 Sells Great In Japan, Square Enix Responsible?

Normally, people associate the success of the Call Of Duty franchise to its hardcore American following. However, this is not the case this time around. It seems like people in Japan are also high on the Call Of Duty phenomenon.

Japan is a country famous for setting and following its own trends in the video gaming industry. So when a foreign game becomes the most selling game of the week, its kind of a big deal. Black Ops 2 has managed to do exactly that at its launch in Japan. One interesting thing to note here is that in Japan, it is Square-Enix who published the game, not Activision.

The PS3 version of the game sold 197,000 of its copies while Xbox copies of the game were a meager amount of 22,000. If you add both the numbers; Black Ops 2 was the most selling game in Japan last week otherwise Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS dominated the sales with a whopping 213,000 copies of the game sold.

3DS also dominated the hardware sales department, occupying the top spot. However, PS Vita sales dropped below 10K due to no new game releases on the platform.
