A couple of months back, we reported on the Shadowrun Returns kickstarter project, specifically their PAX presentation. The game was slated for an early 2013 release (roundabout in January) but developer Harebrained Schemes (which – now that I think about it – is a terrible name for a studio relying on kickstarter) has pushed the date further back to around May/June.
It’s not difficult to see why the release has been pushed back. When they started the Kickstarter for Shadowrun, their goal was somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000, when the fundraiser stopped, they had nearly five times that amount. With the extra cash they can add a whole bunch of new content to the game. This will obviously take more development time, hence the postponement.
To be honest I’m alright with the delay, as long as they make a good Shadowrun (as long as they make any Shadowrun, really) they can take as much time as they please.
