Black Ops 2 Fails To Outsell Previous Call of Duty Titles

Black Ops 2 may have gotten some amazing reception at its launch day but the shooter is still falling short of numbers set by previous Call of Duty titles, specifically in the UK.

Know that Black Ops 2 still managed to outsell every game during its launch this year. However, down the road it met with stiff competition; namely Halo 4 and Assassin’s Creed 3.

According to a report by MCV, launch week sales of Black Ops 2 are down 20% than those of Modern Warfare 3 last year. A partial reason could also be that UK games market itself is down by 28.7% year-on-year. The game also arrived on a later date, which made it compete with some stiff competition.

Activision has shared sales data for their new shooter which has Black Ops 2 earning $500 million worldwide on its launch day. In comparison Modern Warfare 3 last year took in more than $775 million worldwide in its first five days. During the same time-frame in 2010, the previous Black Ops title had earned $650 million.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 brought out some new innovations this year. The firm might had been counting on the new changes to help them set a new record.
