We have seen how Nintendo stepped up their game on the launch of Wii U compared to the Wii, in terms of marketing and quality. Right off the bat, they announced some solid launch titles with their own releases of some of this years hit titles such as Mass Effect 3, Assassin’s Creed III, etc.
Consequently, things are looking up pre-launch as evident by the 1.2 million pre-orders of Wii U launch titles along with 500,000 Wii U systems immediately after they were available on sale in September, as reported by Gamestop. The biggest selling titles are ZombiU, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Assassin’s Creed III, Scribblenauts Unlimited and New Super Mario Bros. U.
To get a sense of the improvement from their last console, the numbers add up to a ratio of 2.4 games per console, which is double compared to the launch of Wii according to Nintendo.
