This brings the numbers to be even with Microsoft, who just last month announced the lifetime sales of their Xbox 360 consoles, which were also 70 million units.
Microsoft had a head start with their console as the Xbox 360 was released in 2005 while Sony released the PS3 a year later. Both firms still have a lot of catching up to do with Nintendo. As of June 30, this year, Nintendo’s lifetime sales of Wii were 97 million units.
Along with the milestone, Sony also revealed that currently there are over 3,590 games available on the PS3.
