GTA 5: “You Get To Play Protagonist and Antagonist” – Rockstar

By   /   Nov 12, 2012

Rockstar has revealed that players in Grand Theft Auto 5 will get to play as both the protagonist and antagonist. Though the firm did not reveal as to who the antagonist would be.

Game Informer’s earlier release of information of the game told us that the new GTA title would feature three new characters: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Players would be able to play through with each character and switch between on the fly.

Speaking with New York Times Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games spoke about the new character-switching feature:

Just at the conceptual level, the idea was three separate stories that you play in one game.

The next bit was, let’s not have the stories intersect once or twice but have them completely interwoven. It felt like it was going to be a real narrative strength: you get to play the protagonist and the antagonist in the same story.

Rockstar has confirmed the scale of GTA 5 to be larger than the worlds of GTA 4, GTA: San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption combined.
