Dota 2 Doom Bringer Guide – Builds, Abilities, Items and Strategy

The seven hells hunger! Lucifer the Doom Bringer is the hero that is commonly referred as a counter to every hero in the pool.

As indicated by his name, he uses his ultimate Doom and renders any hero useless because it disables skills and items, as well as dealing heavy damage over time.

He is a tanky melee item dependant hero that has the highest str growth in the game. Through his Devour, he can level and farm really fast and with his Scorched Earth and LVL? Death he can quickly chase and kill his enemies.

  • Manacost: 60/50/40/30

Doom’s farming tool. The gold bonus is added to the creep’s normal bounty. If a neutral creep with a skill is Devoured, Doom obtains the skill, more on this below on the strategy section.

Scorched Earth
Carpets the nearby earth in flames, damaging enemies while Doom Bringer gains bonus HP regen and increased movement speed.

  • Movement Speed Bonus: 16%
  • Manacost: 60/65/70/75

Doom’s escaping and chasing tool. The heal per second is also very good while laning.

LVL? Death

Doom’s nuke. In the late game it can deal a huge amount of damage.

Inflicts a curse that prevents an enemy Hero from casting spells or using items, while taking damage over time. Doom also disables most passive abilities.

  • Duration: 13 (14*)
  • Damage Per Second: 30/50/70 (50/80/110*)
  • Manacost: 150/200/250
  • Cooldown: 110 seconds

*Aghanim Scepter Values

Probably the best single target disable, Doom can completely shut down an enemy hero, whether it’s a support or a carry. The Aghanim upgrade gives decent damage so it’s a decent option at best.

  16. Doom

This is the most common way to go but Doom’s skill build is pretty variable.

Devour is always taken at level 1 since it will allow you to instantly Devour a jungle creep from the hard camp, thus giving you a huge experience boost to start the game with. It is also the skill you will want to max first most of the times since it scales really well and speeds up your gold gain by a lot.

Scorched Earth is a pretty good option to max second since i gives you an awesome regen to help you with your early game, and the damage per second is also nice at this stage, plus it allows you to escape enemy ganks.

LVL? Death is a very powerful late game nuke, but it also does good damage in the early game. You can chose to max it first but you won’t get the gold benefits that Devour gives you nor will you get the regeneration granted by Scorched Earth.

Ultimate Doom is obviously taken whenever possible because of the extra damage it provides.

Doom Recommended items

Starting: Stout Shield, Branch, Branch,  Tango and Salve
These starting items will give you some survivability to give you an easier laning on your early levels.

Early Game:  Boots of Speed, Magic Wand, Poor Man Shield (or Vanguard), (Hand of Midas)

These are the first items you should be working for. Boots to escape ganks and maybe get some kills. Poor Man Shield (or Vanguard) is a decent solution to your early game problem with low armor, so it will give you a nice survivability bonus against right clicks, and will make your laning a lot easier, Vanguard gives you some regeneration on top of the damage block but it’s more expensive and Scorched Earth already gives you a decent amount of regen.

Hand of Midas is a really great item to speed up your farming even further as well as leveling a lot faster, and Doom can get it really fast with Devour.

Radiance Core
Radiance is a great option for Doom since its damage will fully stack with Scorched Earth, meaning that any enemy close to Doom will suffer 75 damage per second.

It’s also an item that’s most effective when obtained early because enemies will have less hp and die faster to the burn, and also it will allow you to farm jungle really fast. Before the 20 minute mark is usually a good time, after this, Radiance’s power gets progressively weaker.

Strong Extensions:  Boots of Travel, Plate Mail, (Heart of Terrasque)
Boots of Travel along with Scorched Earth will give you almost max movement speed as well as the ability to teleport around the map and Doom can farm it really easy.

Plate Mail is the best solution to your low armor problem and you will be getting one of its upgrades later. Heart will give you a huge hp boost.

Utility Doom Items:  Shiva’s Guard, Aghanim Scepter,  Scythe of Vyse, Refresher Orb, Ethereal Blade
These items are effective when you already have one or more allies that can deal physical damage so that you can focus on shutting down threats.

Shiva’s Guard gives a nice boost to your mana pool, as well as a very useful area slow. Aghanim as said before, it gives a decent damage upgrade.

Scythe will permanently solve your mana problems and it will allow to disable an extra enemy in a fight. Refresher Orb will allow you to Doom 2 enemies instead of one and it will allow you to ue Shiva and Scythe twice.

Ethereal Blade is now a viable option on Doom against enemies with a big amount of hp since LVL? Death’s magical damage will remove a huge chunk of their hp. Doom also does magical damage so this will also further boost it.

Right Clicker DPS Doom Items:  Assault Cuirass, Abyssal Blade, Black King Bar, Satanic, Mjolnir, Manta Style, Daedalus/MKB, Heaven’s Halberd/Butterfly

These items will make Doom hit like a truck. Assault is a great option to solve both your armor and your low attack speed and the armor reduction it’s also very useful. Abyssal allows you to hit an enemy harder and it can be useful to kill enemies that can easily escape.

Black King Bar will allow you to right click without being disabled. Satanic will keep you alive while you hit enemies and it also provides agood hp boost.

Mjolnir is another possible option to boost your pathetic attack speed, the lightning is really nice, and the shield goes really well with Doom’s natural high hp. Manta Style is another viable option to increase your attack speed and the illusions are a great addition to your arsenal.

Daedalus and MKB are the go to items for any hero that wants to right click but they are best obtained when Doom already has some attack speed items first.

Finally, both evasion items are a good way to solve the low armor problem. Halberd is a good option when you prefer to save allies by disarming enemies and Butterfly is an awesome way to also boost your attack speed with an extra 60.

Doom Strategy Tips

Always start by the hard camp in the jungle so that you can instantly Devour the big creep to get a massive experience boost.

You should either go for a solo mid to get fast levels, or a safe lane for faster farm (Radiant bottom and Dire top). You are the main carry so your goal is to farm and farm but you can score kills as soon as you get Doom. LVL? Death can also be a good option to get early kills but by doing this you are depending on opponents being dumb, so it won’t always work.

The creep you Devour plays a big part in Doom’s gameplay. The best one you can get in the early game is the Troll Priest, which spawns in the easy camp since he will give you and your allies a +2 mana per second aura (just like a fully maxed Crystal Maiden’s aura).

This creep will solve all your mana problems (unless you are spamming LVL? Death like crazy for some reason), so you should make a priority and check the jungles for this creep.

Other good mentions are the big Satyr’s regeneration aura which makes him the best creep to Devour at level 1, the Troll Warlord’s Net which can help you get easy kills, the Kobold’s speed aura which is very good, and the  tsolute best option for late game, the Alpa Wolf’s damage aura and critical passive, even if you are not playing a DPS Doom your allies and creeps will greatly benefit from this aura.

Doom’s high base damage will allow you to get more creep kills/denies than most of the hero pool, take advantage of this fact, but don’t really try to pull creep aggro because the enemy creeps will do a lot of damage to you because of your low armor, especially if you don’t have damage block.

Prioritize Doom targets. It might seem tempting to just Doom the rotting Pudge but most of the times its better to just save your ulti for a hero like Storm.

Other times it might seem tempting to Doom the enemy carry but when you do so, he will still be able to right click your team. Sometimes enemies will (try to) counter you with a Linkens Sphere. When this happens, you just need to cast LVL? first to burn the spell block and then Doom them.

Sometimes, games are decided by what item luxuries you decide. It will be up to you to adapt and handle different games accordingly!
