Assassin’s Creed 3 is bringing forth a lot of new content; new lead character, a completely different era and a new continent as well. Now it seems we will have to get familiar with the controls again too as Ubisoft is introducing an unknown control scheme in the third part of the game.
This may be the most drastic change Ubisoft is about to make in this game. After all they are letting go of a tried and tested control scheme of the past. However, Lead Designer Steve Masters has sound reasons to implement this change. He explains:
The previous controls were really set up for a city environment where you didn’t have a huge amount of choice in 3D about where you wee going. What it meant was that when we translated that into the frontier environment where you had trees and the choice of going forwards, up, around or jumping down, the previous controls weren’t set up for handling that range of motion. Now, when you get into the trees, you feel safe as you navigate around.
You can control the camera while you’re free-running, which is something that has always been missing and lacking. And it means you can be tracking a deer, and you know with perfect certainty that you’re going to stay in the trees and not jump down and startle it.
Furthermore, it seems like the new Assassin’s Creed will also feature MMA cage fighting in some capacity. This is evident by the fresh image Ubisoft released of the game’s protagonist Desmond over looking an MMA event from the rafters.
We will have more information as it becomes available.
