With Call of Duty Elite now being a free program for Black Ops 2, your initial reaction might be, “Why?” I mean, this is activison we’re talking about here. Their goal has seemingly been to make all of the money. All of it. So why make something free, when you’ve charged money for it, before? I’ll quote the Activision press release, to shed some light on the subject.
We’ve learned a lot in our first year of Call of Duty Elite, and we’re very proud that we over delivered on our commitment of playable content to our premium members,” said Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg. “What we have realized is that several of the Call of Duty Elite services which are currently only available to our premium members for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 are things that would further unite, engage and delight our player community. So we are going to make them free for Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Yeah, I don’t know how to take this. Free things from activision? No, it couldn’t be. I’m just going to go ahead and assume this is step 1 in Activision’s plan to take over the world.
