Microsoft sure loves to confuse and confound. While rumors ran rampant this week surrounding the phasing out of Microsoft Points, a currency system more denounced than praised, it turns out that is not the case. Sort of.
Microsoft Points will remain as the currency for Xbox 360 users, but will not be used for Windows 8 devices. Speaking to The Verge, a spokesman for Microsoft stated “Microsoft Points continue to be the currency for purchasing content for the Xbox 360 console,” but if you still wish to use your points on Windows 8 you can if you like.
So there it is, Microsoft Points are the strict Xbox 360 currency, and will no longer be used for Windows 8 machines, unless, y’know, you want to. Way to clear things up there, Microsoft.
