News on Wii U’s eShop is still scarce. President of Nintendo America Riggie Fils-Aime though did mention recently to Kotaku as how he would love to see GameCube games on the Wii U.
Speculations are now even stronger when the latest issue of UK magazine Retro Gamer stated that the virtual console for Nintendo’s Wii U will include GameCube titles.
Backwards compatibility with Wii will be included but you’ll no longer be able to play GameCube titles. They’ll be on the Virtual Console store instead.
The Virtual Console will be a feature of Wii U’s eShop and allows players to download and play older titles. Besides the GameCube it supports titles from Nintendo 64, NES and SNES. off course the controls will have to be remapped for the Wii U controller.
Nintendo has not commented on this news, and it leaves us to wonder if the magazine let slip an important piece of information.
If the news is indeed correct, then how would a player’s experience be playing the retro games on the new GamePad?
