It may not be as bad as the PlayStation Network outage last year, but for paying Xbox Live users, one evening without access is more than enough to damper customer faith. Furthermore, users are also having difficulty accessing Hotmail and xbox.com, which simply aren’t loading.
Microsoft’s Xbox Support Twitter took to damage control, stating “Some users may currently be experiencing issues with signing into Xbox LIVE,” and “We’re looking into this, thanks for your patience.” I was able to log into Xbox LIVE just now, but it appears Hotmail and Xbox.com are still down, at least on my end.
Meanwhile, the Official Xbox Magazine updated its blog, stating it was able to finally open xbox.com, to which it found the Support page outlining the specific issues affecting Xbox LIVE users:
Users may experience difficulties with the following services: Creating new Xbox LIVE accounts, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different console, Users will have been disconnected from Xbox LIVE. Affecting the following LIVE Platforms:
- Games for Windows LIVE
- Windows Phone
- Xbox 360 Console
- Xbox.com Zune
- PC Client Zune.net
