Nintendo: Miiverse “Will Surprise People”

President of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime believes that the new social networking service Miiverse will play a big part in Wii U’s success.

Speaking with Allthingsd about their new console, he stated that Miiverse give players a never before experience. This will also be the deciding factor that separates Nintendo from it’s competitors.

I think that it will pleasantly surprise people.

As the network grows and the installed base grows, it will prove to be a true killer application for the system, and I say this loving what we have done with Nintendo TVii and loving all the games. Until you try it and experience it, you may not totally understand it.

People have to leave the current paradigm behind to understand what we are trying to do. Miiverse is going to be embedded right on the game platform, so literally some of the activity will be able to happen immediately as people experience it.

Miiverse is a social networking service embedded into the Wii U that allows you to befriend and communicate with other players in real-time using the Game Pad. Every player can also post in the forums, discussing games, leaving hints or spoiler marked messages for other players to read. Additionally players can also swap images and drawings. So if you just took a screenshot of a the final boss, you can share it at once on the Miiverse for others to see.

Off course with every social platform comes the problem of trolls who do not bide with the rules. The Miiverse will have it’s own set of administrators that will keep in check of every post.

The Wii U will launch this year on November 18 in the US and November 30 in Europe.
