Nintendo 3DS Games To Get Digital eShop Release

Digital buyers who own Nintendo’s handheld 3DS console will rejoice over that fact that the firm has revealed that it will re-release previously retail-only titles via the eShop in Japan.

The news was unveiled in Nintendo’s Direct Broadcast today, which announced that eight digital versions of previously released 3DS games would be available at the eShop.

These games include some of the most loved and iconic titles of the 3DS, including: Ocarina of Time 3D, Pilotwings Resort, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Hana to Ikimorio Rittai Zukan, and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

These games will hit the Japan eShop on November 1.

The announcement was specifically for Japan, but Nintendo will be conducting an additional 3DS-focused broadcast on October 4 at 7pm BST. The chances of them announcing digital copy availability in the west are high.

This is a great move by Nintendo, as the gaming consumer community steadily sways towards digital purchase of games instead of conventional hard copies.
