While news of the game being in development was not a big secret, an official announcement, nonetheless, still brings a good feeling.
In the announcement, Mark confirmed that the game has been in development for more than two years now and this time, they seriously took in all the feedback from the fans about the past Dragon Age titles. He also added that they even visited forums and read user reviews to know exactly what the users wanted.
We´ve visited message boards, read reviews, and we´ve gone to events to have direct face to face conversations with some of our most passionate fans. We´ve been listening, and we will continue to listen.
He refused to talk about the story of the game but hinted that we can guess a bit from the title alone (Dragon Age: Inquisition… ).
The team working on the third part comprises of almost the same members who worked on the previous Dragon Age titles.
The executive producer also gave details on a new engine that’s being worked on just for Dragon Age 3. The new game engine will look forward to providing “a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization…”. That’s armor customization he’s talking about.
Mark mentioned that they started out with DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine as a foundation to accomplish this.
The announcement was concluded with a promise of more details in the time to come and that users should definitely send any feedback, they’d want the developers to know about.
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is expected to be released late in 2013.
