Dota 2 Clinkz Guide – Builds, Abilities, Items and Strategy

Clinkz the Bone Fletcher is called by many to be the Glass Canon of Dota. He is all about how quickly he can take down heroes with his insane damage per second output and most of his items make him deal even more damage.

He is an item dependent Carry hero who has 3 spells that serve to boost his DPS and Skeleton Walk to escape and search for victims with a huge movement bonus. His Searing Arrows fully work on towers, which makes him a good Pusher.

Dota 2 – Clinkz Abilities

Strafe
Clinkz attacks with a barrage of arrows. Dramatically increases attack speed for a short time.

  • Cooldown: 60/50/40/30

Big DPS boost skill, pretty good for ganking and pushing towers.

Searing Arrows
Imbues Clinkz’s arrows with fire for extra damage.

  • Bonus Damage: 20/30/40/50

Another DPS boosting skill. It can also be manually casted to prevent drawing aggro from the creeps, so it makes Clinkz a really good laner since he can get free hits on the enemy heroes. It also works on towers.

Skeleton Walk
Clinkz moves invisibly through units until the moment he attacks or uses an ability.

  • Duration: 20/25/30/35
  • Bonus Movement Speed: 11%/22%/33%/44%
  • Manacost: 75
  • Cooldown: 20

Clinkz’s escape, the bonus movement speed is almost like a free Haste rune.

Death Pact
Clinkz consumes the target friendly or enemy creep, gaining a percent of its HP as max health and damage.

  • Bonus Attack Speed: 110
  • Manacost: 90
  • Cooldown: 60/50/40/30

You get a percentage of the eaten creep as a bonus to your hp, making you less fragile, and to your damage, making you hit harder. Be sure to use it on the big creeps from the hard camps (Satyr Hellcaller, Troll Warlord…)

You take Skeleton Walk at level 1 to escape possible ganks, or if you feel safe, you can take Searing Arrows right away. Searing arrows is the first skill to max since it helps you deal the biggest amount of damage.

You can take an early level of Strafe at level 4 in case you think you can take a tower, or if by some reason you are playing in a dual lane and you think you can grab a kill with it. Since you don’t get much benefit for leveling up Strafe, you max Skeleton Walk second, because the extra movement speed is really useful and it will make Clinkz very hard to catch.

Take Death Pact whenever possible.

Clinkz Recommended items

Starting: Slipper of Agility, Slipper of Agility, Branch, Branch,  Tango and Salve
These starting items will give you some survivability to give you an easier laning on your early levels and some damage increase for easier last hits.

Early Game:  Ring of Aquila, Magic Wand, Medallion of Courage, Soul Ring

Core: Orchid Malevolence, Power Treads, TP Scroll

Clinkz’s game only starts when he gets his Orchid up. The item is just perfect for him to have Searing Arrows permanently turned on. Plus, this is an answer to targets that can just stun you and escape, as well as targets that can just blink away.

Power Treads are the boots of choice. Not only do they add plus damage when on agility, but you can also switch them to Strength to get some more hp or you can even change them to Int so that your mana regenerates faster. Also, you should always carry a TP Scroll.

Strong Extensions:  Crystalis, Black King Bar, Monkey King Bar

Crystalis offers so much damage while being so cheap, with it you will not only be able to take down supports, but you will also be able to solo kill some more tanky heroes.

Black King Bar is a pretty good item that can prevent you from being killed because of multiple spells being cast on you.

Luxuries and Situational: Monkey King Bar, Daedalus, Satanic, Butterfly, Manta Style, Divine Rapier, Eye of Skadi, Scythe of Vyse

Late game you should get these items to make you hit like a big truck. MKB is great when the enemies have some kind of evasion, against heroes like Brewmaster, Windrunner, Riki, etc., And it’s awesome to cancel channeling spells like Black Hole and Teleport. Daedalus is the upgrade for your Crystalis; with it, you will deal some sick damage.

Satanic gives you a big hp boost and it’s active is almost like a free Aegis, use it when you are almost dying, crit once and become full hp again. Only get it as a 5th or last item though, since it doesn’t work with your Searing Arrows. Butterfly, the cookie cutter item for carry heroes, is also a great option that also boosts your survivability due to the evasion. Manta Style can be a good item since it allows you to dodge spells and illusions are always a good thing to have.

Divine Rapier is the option to go for in won games or in case the final battle is about to start. No hero is safe when you get it.

Eye of Skadi and Scythe of Vyse can be obtained instead of your Orchid, while both of them are better (Slow from Skadi fully works with your Searing Arrows and Scythe gives you a disable), they are also a lot more expensive and they will delay your killing. In case you need some extra tankyness, Skadi gives you 700hp as well as some stats, so you can still get it after Orchid.

Clinkz Strategy Tips

Try and get your Orchid up as fast as possible, however in case you can get some kills, don’t just stay in your lane totally focused on killing creeps.

As far as laning choices go, you can go for the any lane since Skeleton Walk makes you hard to kill, and you can win a lot of 1vs1 situations and can still farm in 2vs1. You will still prefer to have levels, so try to get a solo lane.

With Searing Arrows you should be agressive while laning. Remember to manually cast Searing on the enemy so that you don’t draw aggro and you make the enemy stay away from your creeps.

You can also dodge spells using Skeleton Walk, when the enemy projectiles get close, you can just use it, and you won’t take any damage or get stunned.

Again, use Death Pact on the big creeps for maximum bonus. The best possible usage of this spell is to use it on the enemy Chen’s creeps, they got more hp because of his Holy Persuasion granting you even more hp and damage, you take them out of the fight, and the enemy Chen gets mad because he has to go find a new creep for his army.

Push towers whenever you can, extra gold for the entire team is always a good thing, and you get more space on the enemy side of the map to move around undetected.

Learn which target to kill, whether its the pesky Lion that can just chain disable and kill you, or the Rikimaru who if you don’t kill him fast enough, he will kill your team.

Sometimes, games are decided by what item luxuries you decide. It will be up to you to adapt and handle different games accordingly!
