Trion have been teasing us with details on Storm Legion for a while now, the 300% increase in landmass non-withstanding. However, they’ve been strangely quiet for a few weeks, with little reason why. I assumed it was because they were beta testing in preparation for the release, and I might have been right.
The official announcement came earlier today that Storm Legion would be officially launching on November 13, nearly two months after the release of the MMO juggernaut, World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, Mists of Pandaria.
With all this new content and many new features, could this be the thing to drag Rift back into the forefront of MMO culture?
I’m feeling a bit sorry for MMO gamers at the moment. Guild Wars 2 was just released, and Mists of Pandaria is out in a matter of weeks. Star Wars: The Old Republic is going F2P and now Rift is getting back in on the action.
You’re spoilt for choice, really. And it’s going to be a mish-mash of players moving between the various games until they find something that they’re happy with. But perhaps a re-shuffling of players is exactly what the MMO industry needs right now.
