Windows 7 has grown popular in the games industry as well. The newer windows gives support for DirectX 11 which Windows XP does not. This has led many game developers to drop support for Windows Xp in recent years.
A recent example would be Treyarch’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 title which will be incompatible with Windows XP.
Windows XP was released back in 1998 while Windows 7 was released in 2009. The next version, Windows 8 is going to be release this October.
