The confirmation came in the form of a tweet from @SHAR_ONLINE earlier today:
“I talked to Hashimoto-san about various things. It seems that Versus XIII won’t be at TGS. They are concentrating all their resources into the conclusion of the Lightning saga and FFXIV.” [Translated]
So, the Lightning saga goes on. And we’re getting more details on FFXIV. But a game that was announced five years ago seems to remain in development hell.
I’m beginning to get doubtful as to if it will ever be released. Especially after the rumours that it was being scrapped and turned into another game entirely. There’s a definite fanbase for it, even after five years of waiting. But are Square just being arrogant and sticking it to their fans in favour of more profits?
Hell, I thought that FFXIII, FFVXIII and another title were meant to make up a saga; so why is Lightning getting a saga all to herself?
If there is going to be nothing at Tokyo Game Show, could we please have just a tidbit of information, Squenix? Let us know that the game is still in development and it’s not on a permanent backburner.
