I think it’s really interesting to leave such decisions to the consumers, as opposed to letting the corporate structure determine which games are released, based on what they think we want. This seems to cut out the middle man.
I for one am curious as to how this will play out. Indeed, there are a few things to worry about. A lot of indie developers are worried that their small niche, quirky games won’t get picked. While I understand where they’re coming from, I’m optimistic. If there’s one thing that the gaming audience has proved time and time again, it’s that we crave unique, often times quirky games.
