Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops Announced at Anniversary Event

At an event held to celebrate Metal Gear’s 25th anniversary today, it was announced that a new “social game” would be released for the series.

Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops is apparently going to be a card-based battler that will let players relive the stories from past entires in the series.  There’s also some information indicating that it might even include a Mother Base building component similar to the one in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

The plans are for it to be built onto the GREE network, a large social networking service in Japan.  An executive from GREE appeared at the anniversary event to debut the game and show off some 3D footage of the game built in Unilty.

Not much else is known but we do have some screenshots to go off of.

I’m sure we’ll here more in the coming months as to whether or not we’ll be seeing this game over in the states, so keep an eye on Segment Next for more info as we get it!
