Assassin’s Creed 3: Main Storyline Includes 4 Naval Battles

The naval warfare scenes from Ubisoft’s E3 presentation this year really took fans by surprise.

They have now revealed to Eurogamer that naval battles will be available through many side quests and in the main story line of the game.

Assassin’s Creed 3’s main story line will include at least four major battles on the seas. Players interested in shooting off more cannons can find and play more side quests.

It’s also good to know that you can better your ship by buying upgrades through completion of these side quests. Your first ship will use regular cannon balls but these can be upgraded to more lethal weapons:

Chain Shot (Two cannon balls chained together), Heat Shot (Cannon balls on fire) and Grape Shot (A blast of debris similar to a giant shotgun). You’ll also be able to unlock more health and defenses for your ship.

The campaign will also offer a good reason as to why Connor is promoted to the commander of his own ship. While Assassin’s Creed: Revelations offered up unnecessary and distracting tower defense sections, this year’s inclusion of naval battles seems to fit far better with the main game.
