A larger version of the 3DS was announced back in mid of June. It was tagged as the 3DS XL and reviewers actually said that the larger version brought out the true radical effects of the 3D on the hand-console.
A price tag of $200 was revealed along with a release date of August 19 in North America and July 28 in Japan.
Sale statistics for the hand-held over the weekend reports that it sold over 193,441 3DS LL/XL units. In addition the New Super Mario Bros. 2 also displayed impressive results. The game sold 430,185 units and this does not include the sales of the game’s download version.
It has yet to be confirmed whether these numbers take into account sales of the download code cards that are sold at select retailers like 7-Eleven. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow when the full 3DS hardware sales are published.
