The publisher observed a “recovery” trend in the videogame market as it posted revenues of ¥18.6 billion ($237m / £151m), a 55.8 per cent increase year-on-year. Net profits were ¥1.3 billion ($17m / £11m), a 290.2 per cent jump over the ¥338 million posted in the same quarter last year.
This was buoyed by the publisher’s announcement that Dragon’s Dogma has sold more than one million units and this is with the game struggling outside the Land of the Rising Sun, too.
While certainly nowhere near Call of Duty or Battlefield numbers, it’s not bad considering the game is entirely a new IP and it’s not even an FPS.
Did you contribute to the one million units the game sold so far? I think it’s safe to say that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a foregone conclusion, no?
