As if the PlayStation Vita isn’t having enough of a hard time selling. Now there’s news that a Japanese government agency is investigating cases of PlayStation Vitas “burning” up while they’re charging.
Sony acknowledges the situation and states that there have been 31 incidents worldwide to date. Of this 31, 23 were in Japan and the rest are scattered throughout Australia, the UK, and North America.
However, no product recall is being planned as Sony states that this is not related to a product malfunction and believes this happens due to consumers having liquids or other objects inserted in the charging connection slot.
In all instances, the PS Vita’s problem involved the connection slot for the charger and the Vita burning while it’s charging.
Fortunately for Sony, there have been no reports of injuries so far. We’ll keep you posted on further developments.
