We’ve spoken before about the new races that you’ll get to play around with; the Asura and the Sylvari during the next beta weekend event. However, ArenaNet have decided that you need even more fun new things to play with in the short weekend you’ll get to play it. So, they decided that there needs to be a all-new PvP map and an entire new map designed for levels 17-20.
Brisbane Wildlands is the name of the new map, and it lies smack-bang in the middle between the territories of the Asura, Sylvari and humans (And there’s the Skritt as well, here and there). Human bandits as well as the Inquest and the Nightmare Court have managed to take over the area and are causing havoc. They need to be dealt with ASAP.
What about the new PvP map though? It’s called Legacy of the Foefire and it might remind you of the Conquest ruleset. There’s guild lords, NPC guards and has been designed to capture a “nostalgic” feel, very reminiscent of Guild Wars maps. It’s doable in groups or by yourself as well, which is pretty cool.
There’s also Keg Brawl! If you make your way to the Brewer NPC hiding in Hoelbrack, you’ll get to play some Keg Brawl. Battle your way across a frozen lake with your keg to win.
If you haven’t decided what to do about your beta characters (In case you really want to try out Asura but don’t want to lose your current characters), ArenaNet have made a tough decision for you: All pre-existing beta information other than contact lists has been wiped. They’re going to do this before and after this beta weekend event, so no sneaking characters from your beta account to your main game when it releases.[Source: Joystiq]
